Tamsin points out the dilemma of whether Haythornthwaite goes to WC as middie or shooter…….aaarghhh!

Yeah it was. Have to admit Ella C isn’t in the mix for me !

Agreed: surely it’s now a question over Fisher/Dunn/Pitman and where Haythornthwaite fits in?

Think she goes as both – probably selected primarily as a GA, with the WA option, not least because Pitman can become bogged down in her “running into the pockets” game and doesn’t have a secondary level to go up to, or a competent second position (she is NOT a GA, and I don’t think she’s ever played C?).  Nat’s a great WA, but can be quite deceptive at GA.  I’d take Harten, Housby, Hayth and Fisher as the shooters – and give George plenty of court time in the early rounds.

Actually, after this week’s performances, would Nat be ahead of Pitman?  Probably not but at least she can play two positions:  then you have as centre court options Clarke, Guthrie, maybe Corbin or Pitman and Marshall or Panagarry.

Looked much better this time. They said they were heading for a sell out or close to it?

It was sold out for the areas they actually had available

Good point BB – had forgotten about her.

My 12 at this stage would be Mentor, EUB, Agbeze, Guscoth, Cobden, Clarke, Guthrie, Pitman or S Corbin, Housby, Harten, Haythornthwaite and Fisher.  What a lovely luxurious position to be in, that we could leave a gold medallist (Gibson) at home!

Ohhh, I hate the way they do that. Happens here in Australia too. They say something is a sell out, then you find out there’s a whole other area of seating they just decided to not even use.

Yes mine is the same Fluffy (although would stick with Pitman over Corbin)

Although if Cobden isn’t fit, I’d be tempted to chuck Dunn in there as a shooter.

Apologies, in my post I mixed up EBC and EUB and ended up with EUC! Either way I think Eboni should be in.

I agree Broadbean, Pitman over Corbin (I do like Sasha but think Pitman just shades it), and fingers crossed that Cobden is fit. It’s good that there are still options at this stage though.

Yes I don’t mind Sasha and her athleticism is brilliant but I find her a little bit all over the place and very erratic – much like her sister.

I love watching the replays, you notice far more when you’re not constantly checking the score!

I agree that the quad squad will form the core of the WC squad and just hope that everyone in the mix is available for selection. There  have been so many injuries and niggles lately it would be awful if anyone was ruled out  simply due to that.

Definitely Pitman over Corbin…..but we’ve been missing that solid C/WA ever since Karen Atkinson retired and to my mind an out and out WA may be a luxury we can’t afford in WC.
