Can anyone shed light on why Stacey Francis doesn’t get included?

She has opted out for the past few years, people have previously speculated she did not get along with Neville but she may now be a part of the wider squad that is not contracted, who knows.

If that’s the case she didn’t chose the players why is she England Coach? Obviously just to follow orders.   guess Tamsin possibly wanted to chose her players and that went against her.   Has Ama agbeze retired along with Jade Clarke.   Funny that Beth Cobden is in the squad for the next year when she is injured.   she needs to take time away and recover and start playing club netball before being considered for England,   I am slightly concerned she has had two cruciate injuries in a short space of time

Pleaseee you don’t know that. Chances are Jess may not have selected the entire squad but you can bet she was well aware of who had been selected before it was announced.

I am not having a go at Jess but the whole England set up.   Why would Jess make the announcement if she was not responsible for the choices.   In a years time does Jess change some players?  In relation to Beth Cobden I am concerned about her.   do not want her under pressure to return like last time and break down again.   If she needs to take the whole season out so be it.

Why has it taken so long for Shimmin to play for England if she has dual citizenship?

    So strange!

Well done to Kate Shimmin. I’m not really a huge fan but see her skill which is a little different to our usual Aussie defenders. She has probably had a good look at current Australia defence selection and those coming through and given this pathway to international a crack. Good for her. She has always had something to offer. It will be interesting to watch

Nothing against Stacey but I don’t think she’s needed. We’ve got Vicky Oyesola who does the same job (actually she reminds me very much of Stacey in her style of play) and I really feel that now is the time to push and develop those fringe players  (Quashie,  Oyesola, Fisher, Darroch, Parsons and Airey) so that we have more depth beyond our starting seven.

Hopefully we’ll see one or two new caps in the next Quad series.

+1 – please stop the witchhunt against Jess….this is getting ridiculous.  Just because one candidate chose to talk up her application in the media, doesn’t make her the automatic no 1 choice!

There’s a panel of selectors involved in all decisions, who actually choose the squad cross the year, so this line up isn’t down to just Jess.  And on Shimmin, hasn’t she played for Aus in Fast5?  Maybe she was holding out for a move up which never came?

It changes every year, so it’s no big deal if Thirlby wasn’t that involved. Agree with Ash on Francis. I’m sure if she wanted to, and if England needed an experienced player, then she could be selected. Apart from the rumours that she didn’t get on with TN, there is also the fact she was in a relationship with another player. I’m assuming that created a problem in itself.

I think Shimmin offers something different and she’s a wise head if Mentor or EUB are not available. Be unfair to throw all our young specialist GK in at the deep end. I think Quashie is developing very well, looking forward to her having more court time.

I’m excited to see what Quashie and Williams can do as a defensive partnership; they are both so different but both are very good at reading what’s happening around them: and with Oyesola potentially in there at WD it could be a very exciting defensive line up.

I’m also hoping that Darroch and Parsons can both bring their “C” game to the same level as their WA game; it’s about time we had a C/WA in the squad 😀

A witch hunt, that is not what I am about.  Expressing my opinions on something that I was disappointed about is not a witch hunt. I think the fact Tamsin talked about it was Tracey Neville who said over to you.   will you agree Tracey is the best England coach we have had.  If only she could have taken Maternity a leave we wouldn’t have been in this place.   Surely England could have kept her as Director of Netball overseeing the team.   Tracey Neville obviously knew what was best for England

I think you’ve expressed that opinion to it’s fullest extent. No need to keep bringing every discussion back around to the matter. It’s getting a bit tired seeing a vendetta against one woman who hasn’t even coached a game yet.</p>

Vendetta that’s a bit harsh.   not starting a campaign or maybe I should?

So……back to the ‘Roses Programme’: is the next international match the next Quad series? If so who do we think could make the squad? I’m expecting to see Shimmin named (or else why is she in the programme?) but I also reckon we could see Quashie (got to address that GK position asap) and either Darroch or Parsons? I love taking a punt early on😊.

I’m also really excited to see the Ferns line up- wondering if any of their impressive younger players make the squad. It feels like a new era in netball with so many veterans (or should that be fossils?😂) ending their international careers.

It does sound like a vendetta though joyjamie. We get that you wanted Tamsin, you’ve said it enough times. We get that you don’t like Jess, you’ve said/hinted that enough times.

What’s done is done. Please just give it a rest about the coach. It’s tiresome.

I’m not sold on Quashie I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think we have much else. It’ll be interesting to see how Shimmin fits in and what she can do in the international setting. Also not much on Parsons. I personally think that Darroch is the better bet at this stage but we shall see. I don’t understand Jess Shaw being in there but it’s possible there weren’t many other choices. Who knows. I hope that Malcolm gets a chance. I thought she shined for Thunder this year and shut down Bongi in the final.

It’ll be interesting to see if any of the SSN players do Quad as they won’t have had much rest at all before it kicks off. This is a good time to test out some other shooters too. We don’t have many GA options behind Housby at the moment.

Jess has some work to do but I’m excited to see what happens and will watch with interest.

Well not sure about the England side.  But guessing H & H will be there, Pitman, Haythorn………, Mentor, Guthrie so that won’t change much.

Ferns if Taurua is coach for 2020 onwards ( my opinion is she will be), then I think Langman and Folau will stay on for a bit longer, so again it won’t change much, Rore, Watson, Ekenasio, Mes. But I do think Kimi Poi will get her chance, I expect Temalisi F. will be the replacement for the retired Kopua.

Aliyah Dunn hopefully has done the hard work, but if not she won’t make the Ferns for a while.

I’m fully expecting a large number of the NWC squad to not play the quad series (and actually this year of international fixtures). The WC schedule was gruelling (intensifies by being a player down for the majority) and then a large number have flown straight back into the intense SSN end of season.

I think we will therefore see a number of wider squad players involved for the Quad – Perhaps alongside some of the lesser used NWC squad members (NatP, Fran W, perhaps even RDunn).
