What happened to Chloe Watson? I know she left because she was pregnant last season, but I haven’t heard anything about her since. Thought I might have read that she was beginning to be in as a training partner or something…

I think when she announced her pregnancy she implied that she was more concerned with having time as a mother than coming back to netball. She didn’t rule it out but she didn’t seem to be chomping at the bit to get back.

In fairness, she was really just a handy player at this level, not a star. Ingles took her place (coincidentally after having babies herself) and Watson wouldn’t be able to displace her. Maybe if Ingles retires again?

I didn’t rate her much tbh. But just noticed there was no big birth announcement or anything like teams normally do with that type of thing.

I think she is a very private person. Her social media is now private and you rarely see any pics of her and Kurt together. They live in Sydney as well.

Yeah I don’t think she has the desire to get back playing netball, she might just want to use her degree later on or be a stay at home mum. Not every player that is talented necessarily has the willpower and wants to win and train the way say a Kim Green or Geva Mentor do.

That’s actually quite refreshing! I think I’m so used to the NZ way of of quickly popping out the baby, and then walking straight back into teams, that it’s nice to see someone actually fully embrace motherhood (and also a club that is picking a team based on current skill).

What’s wrong with having a kid, then going back to work isn’t that what most Mum’s do, unless they are married into wealth and can stay at home.
