    In praise of Wing Defences:

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/jun/11/wing-defence-the-most-underrated-and-influential-of-netball-positions?utm_term=RWRpdG9yaWFsX0d1YXJkaWFuVG9kYXlBVVMtMTkwNjEx&utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=GuardianTodayAUS&CMP=GTAU_email

lots of stats there, including those of the WD’s opponents which is very interesting…..but I do think I saw Renae get at least 3 intercepts, not just the two mentioned in the article.

(I tried to post this as a new thread, but doesn’t seem to have worked).

Listening to the Vixens podcast with Tegan Philip. MJ is back in training and a selection possibility for the weekend (teams of 12 for couple of weeks post World Cup).  Of course they have their training partners as well McDonald, Ellis, Newton and Smith.

    No mention of Venter’s injury.

MJ :d_sunny: wonderful to see her back. I fully expect her court time to be limited this year given the brilliant form of Thwaites but she definitely has the ability to be a match turning sub for the Vixens if she is fully fit.

I like Newton. Good young player and with the load of Weston over the last 3 games of the World Cup good to see they have taken cover there.

Commane seems a little unnecessary (3 specialist GSs in one team is a lot and I thought they’d want more mid court coverage)  but she does seem to be the Vixens Ms fix it and has always performed well.

I am enjoying seeing all clubs (except Fever) utilise the 12 players. If there changes to be made to SSN them game day squads of 12 would be one I would support. Keep 10 contracted players and fill the extra two spots from training partners.

I hope they play Mannix at GD and Dehaney at GK or maybe Mannix GK, Newton GD. Weston had an insane amount of court time over the WC relative to how much everyone else had.
