Understandably, the coaches from the top teams aren’t happy with this new ‘bonus’ round…

Imagine performing well one season, only to find out your reward is an extra game against a strong opponent the next.

Absolutely ridiculous idea. And even more so if the teams were actually against it.

My bet is that they’re hoping it’s a money spinner, and if it isn’t a teams home game then they don’t have to fork out what a team would have lost by playing it there. So teams will now have an extra away game and have to contend with the cost of travel as well as overnight stays for Sirens and potentially Pulse as they play at 11am.

    It’s unfair and absolutely stupid.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve heard from EN / VNSL in a catalogue of stupid things – and is utterly pointless.  Last season was the most competitive yet, so unless you’re going to add another full round between ALL teams, what’s the point?

Is it cynical of me to think that they’ve done this for the publicity and will “cave” to pressure once the headlines have all died down?  The coaches don’t want it, the players don’t want it, the start of the season “all in one place” has been a bust for the past two years – what on earth are the league playing at?  Would love to know what they think the “benefit” is?

    Money.
Announced yesterday and pre-sale tickets selling today. But only to EN members. So the Scottish and Welsh fans get stung by that.

I hope it’s a stunt but it’s more likely just a giant cock up.
