Was so excited when Zimbabwe quailed for the WC, and what an incredible debut they had today! Insanely talented team across the whole court – Kwangwa at GD is a star! And the crowed was AMAZING

    WOW Zimbabwe

I really hope they recover well. On that display they should make the top 3 in their pool.

I just fear fitness and conditioning will begin to tell in the later stages of the tournament

Missed the first quarter but Klau had a good debut. Thought she was cleaner and stronger than Bruce

Great start for Aus getting all players on court but let’s hope Lisa finds her starting 7 and let’s them have a few games together – we don’t need a repeat of CWG

First impressions of the venue are that they had a great idea, but the execution is poor!

The 2 courts side by side is great, however there is a great big TV tower blocking the view of most of 1 court. The timings are offset (great idea), but by the wrong amount so that there is about 10-15 mins each game with no play on either court.

There are 2 big screens, but during quarter/ half time they show insta posts / ads for theNWC rather than the other court or even the score on the other court.

Also no national anthems for court 2 teams – as court 1 is already playing.

Definite opportunity to lift their game!!

Unless Sri Lanka regroups to beat Australia or NI, then Zimbabwe is a certainty for top three and the next stage

Northern Ireland is tiny. Population is only 1.8m and there is no NI based Superleague team so only 3 players in the VNSL. I think the superleague should include a Belfast based franchise to give netball in NI and the Republic a boost. Wales and Scotland both have a franchise team.

I’m surprised that Michelle Draine wasn’t given the start at WD as she had a fantastic season.

That wasn’t the Malawi I expected. For me that was an anticlimax.

Anyone know where there will be replays in Australia to watch?

It also wasn’t the NZ team that they met last time. The loss of Kumwenda was always going to be a huge blow to their chances, but this NZ team is a bit better prepared for the task than at the Comm games. I also thought that the better fitness of the Kiwis showed up at the close of the first quarter when Malawi began to tire and make mistakes, but NZ didn’t, and could capitalise in Malawi’s errors.

The NZ v Australia game will be interesting (and given that today’s games were the toughest opponents that either team will meet until then, very important to both teams chances in the semi finals).

Thats exactly what Malawi are like though. You never know what you are going to get….. sometimes they’re on and will challenge the top teams – but other times they’re a bit of a mess and can be blown out of games easily.
