Um on Sunday I see 2 games at the same venue, but 4hrs apart 1pm and 5pm. That’s a bit odd, what’s happening in the 2hrs between?????

Are they emptying the joint and adding a new crowd?? New money into the centre?

Got me thinking with it now taking 2 hrs to actually cover a 60min game on TV in the SSN.  By the time the 2 other teams warm up, they sweep the court, have the cheer leaders, etc, that is another hrs worth, so yes the 2hrs in between is actually about right.

I reckon that is it. One is a Swifts game, the other is a Giants game. Clearly it mustn’t be a “double-header”.

Hmmmm, Netball is more exciting than a election.

Voting doesn’t close until 6pm, so they usually don’t have any meaningful figures until nearly 6:30. Yet they’re moving a game that was scheduled to go from 3-5pm. They will just be sitting around talking about NOTHING!

After all this talk about physicality and injuries, look at what Ch9 played during their NRL coverage…

Well it sure didn’t look accidental to me and if it was a rugby game a blow to the head like that would be yellow carded.  Hinchcliffes elbow went back way higher than a natural driving forward arm and at elite sports level players need to be aware of the damage that they can do.

The competition is getting rough beyond a joke.  The issue further down the track is that if too much physicality drops down to the lower grades then netball will see the same attrition that school boy rugby is here, where schools are starting to struggle to field teams due to the danger of head injuries.

I agree with both Ian and Maryann.

There needs to be a measure of responsibility on players based on  careless, reckless or intentional.

Netball will need a meeting of greater minds than mine as to how this is assessed and put in place.

You just can’t have contact to the head.

I lost a mate in a Rugby League game who was deceased on the field of play. That remains with me, the people in witness and to a family who mourn a loved one.

Netball is a professional business. It is time to fill this gap.

As for Channel 9. They are selling physicality to an audience that watches Rugby League for its physicality. Let’s face it the skill has all but gone:

    – 90% of forwards don’t have the authority to pass.

    – A major % of players can’t pass left to right.

    – Left side play is dictated because of righthandedness.

    – Attacking sweeping plays. Players run at 30-45 degrees. 85% of those players have no idea what straightening the play means.

Wow. That was a lot of held in emotion.

Netball differentiates its game through skill.

Let’s hope Channel 9 depicts this in a TV add.
