    6-1 6-3.

Ash is in rare form. She is just so comfortable with her own game.

To beat a player who has not lost a set this tournament. And trounce her in 2.

The apple of Australia’s eye. She speaks well and embodies IMO what Australians are.

Dylan is a star too. Wonderful player in his field. 8 Grand Slams. Outstanding.

So good, well done Ash Barty.  And just great to watch a player not try and smack the living crap out of the ball, Ash has so much variety to her game.

No fake over the top celebration.

    Great press conference.

Nice to hear someone say they never dreamt about this.

She’s as real as they come.

Meets all the criteria to play for the Sydney Swans.

Wonderful news, and it has been leading ABC news bulletins all morning. Although I did have to come on here to find out if Dylan Alcott had won

So when the new rankings are set, Ash will be number 2 in the world, correct me if wrong.  But she will be the highest ranked Australian female singles player, since Evonne Goolagong was number 1 in 1976

Stosur got to number 4, and did Dokic (but she might have gone back to her country of birth by then).

    I just googled for fun.

Kim Clijsters in 2005. Just kidding Leyton.

    Chris Evert. Just kidding Greg.

Margaret Court 1973 and Evonne 1971.

What a disarmingly engaging and charasmatic young woman. Well spoken and charming. Self assured and pleasantly confident. A great role model and an example on how a public sportsperson should conduct themselves.
