I just read the article on the supernetball.com website about the new Nissan Net Points. Are these going to play into the Fantasy league this year at all? because it is essentially the same thing however the scoring might be a bit different, I haven’t checked properly.

It’s basically like their fantasy score. If you follow the “NNP” on the live scoring, you will get some sort of idea of who is going well in fantasy netball, but the scores won’t be the same. They’ll just be kind of similar. One big difference. With NNP you will regularly have players who end up on a minus score. That will be rare with my points system.

But they still haven’t cottoned on to the fact that fantasy netball is popular. I guarantee you if NA/SSN started up their own fantasy game, it would increase TV ratings straight away. Because when people get into fantasy sports, it gives them a greater interest to watch ALL the games, not just ones featuring teams they like. If it wasn’t for the Fantasy Netball game that NA started WAY back in 2001, I probably wouldn’t be the huge netball fan that I am, and I almost certainly wouldn’t be on this forum.

I suspect they are heading in that direction, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to do that next season using the NNP system. I’m glad that they are doing it though because it will make some of the more boring games more exciting if I have players in my fantasy team in them.
