    Quarter 1

    Wasps 12 Lightning 12

Cobden deflects the very first centre pass and LL score to get the first break and a very early lead.

Jade Clarke gets cautioned for obstruction as LL maintain their lead and stretch it out to 4 goals

Sterling making her presence felt, flying out of the D to intercept and disrupting but LL are not treasuring the ball.

Sam May, playing GK, getting pinged despite Peace continually stepping in when taking her shots but May is able to reset and gets two vital tips to help Wasps level the score.

Inside the last two minutes, Cobden lands awkwardly and has to be carried from the court. Shes in tears…

    Halftime

    Wasps 28  Lightning 24

Wasps step up, both Knights and May being to squeeze Peace but she’s still able to get ball. However, she losses her touch and misses a number of shots under the post.

Wasps stop feeding Dunn the overhead ball, but Sterling continues to disrupt. Poor passing and decision making from LL means they are unable to capitalize and wasps take the lead

It was a good game, and congrats to Wasps.

Not sure what happened to Lightning, Peace missed so many goals and all within 0.9 metre of the post !! they had 12 intercepts before halftime 5 more then Wasps. I didn’t see the final stats but Wasp were shooting at 89%

Sterling and May were outstanding. Especially Sterling, she got so much ball and then her team literally threw it away. Passing behind the player, over a third or poor ball placement into the circle. May, at a guess, is at least 4 to 5 cm shorter than Peace, yet time after time she out jumped her for rebounds,  contested 70% of the high balls (tipping many). Sam May should have been MVP.

Both coaches are stepping down from their positions so there are openings for both Dan and JS if they want to try something new.

Cobden joined in the huddles, on her crutches, Pam Cookey speculating that it could be an ACL  I hope not as i think that would rule her out of the World Cup :fie:

World Cup is still a year away. It wouldn’t be perfect, but I don’t think it would completely rule her out.

    Thanks for the updates.

Congrats Wasps. By the sound of it, the game was there for the taking for Lightning if they were good enough, but they just didn’t have the composure under pressure.
